We will provide you with separate P60 information for each policy you have. To view your P60s online, you need to know the name of each of the pension schemes or insurers that transferred your pension benefits to Rothesay. Please enter each name separately into the search bar at the bottom of the page and a link to the relevant online service will appear.
Your P60s are available online at the end of each tax year. This has the following advantages:
- It enables you to see your documents quicker
- You can view, download or print your P60s at any time
- You can access previous years P60s
We will not issue P60s by post unless you contact us (or have already contacted us) to let us know you wish to receive paper versions. You can update your mailing preferences anytime online.
Questions & answers about your P60 document
This is the standard format that is provided by HMRC for P60 certificates. Your pension payment from Rothesay, and your previous provider if you had one, are treated as taxable income and they are reported to HMRC this way. This is nothing to worry about, both Rothesay and HMRC are aware that these are pension payments and not income from employment.
If your policy was transferred to Rothesay part way through the tax year, this section includes a total for the payments made by your previous provider/scheme and the tax they deducted from those payments.
The Lump Sum allowance is the maximum amount of benefits you can take from all of your pension arrangements as tax-free lump sums. For most people the Lump Sum Allowance is £268,275 but yours may be higher if you hold a protected allowance. You can read more here.

There can be a number of reasons why your tax code on your P60 differs to the tax code you have been given by HMRC. Rothesay are unable to make any changes to your tax code unless we are directly instructed to do so by HMRC. It is important that you contact HMRC directly to query this. If a change does need to be made to your tax code and they advise you of this when you contact them, you do not need to let us know – HMRC will contact us directly to rectify this.

The process is the same as if you believe your tax code is wrong (see previous question). You must contact HMRC so they can investigate this for you. If you have paid too much or too little tax, they will often provide you with a new tax code going forward and they will notify Rothesay of this change themselves. HMRC will explain exactly how the money will be paid back to you if you have paid too much or how they would recoup the additional amount if you paid too little.
