Winter Fuel Payment and other benefits
Recent changes to the Winter Fuel Payment mean that many more people over State Pension age will be able to get the payment. You no longer have to qualify for Pension Credit to get Winter Fuel Payment.
Who can get Winter Fuel Payment?
You could get a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2025/26 if you live in England or Wales or Northern Ireland and were born before 22 September 1959.
If your yearly income is more than £35,000, HMRC will recover the payment from you later.

If you live in Scotland and are over State Pension age, you may qualify for Pension Age Winter Heating Payment instead.
