Age UK Love Christmas Carol Concert

Rothesay Life is delighted to extend our relationship with Age UK by supporting Age UK’s Love Christmas Carol Concert to be hosted at St Paul’s Cathedral on the 18 December 2014.

Age UK will use funds raised at this year’s Love Christmas to combat loneliness amongst older people.

More about Age UK’s Efforts to Combat Loneliness

Christmas is a time for celebration.  A time to reconnect with friends and family in an often hectic world.  But for those older people spending Christmas alone this year, it can also be a painfully lonely time.  Loneliness is a daily reality for over 1 million older people who regularly go an entire month without speaking to anyone.

One way that Age UK is tackling the problem of loneliness is through developing telephone and face to face befriending services.  These vital services provide a link to the outside world and often act as a gateway for other services and valuable support.

As well as befriending services, local Age UK will be providing the following (and more) to older people in their community over the Christmas period:

  • £5 buys a hot, homemade meal for a lonely older person.
  • £10 pays for an essential winter warmth pack including a hot water bottle, thermal hat and thermos flask.
  • £15 pays for a food hamper to be delivered to an older person spending Christmas alone.
