Rothesay Life takes role as PensionChair Technical Partner

24 September 2014

Rothesay Life has extended its support of the pension scheme trustee community by becoming a Technical Partner of the PensionChair Network.

Rothesay Life Limited, a leading life insurer specialising in providing bulk annuities and other derisking solutions to defined benefit pension schemes and insurance companies, is pleased to announce that it has become a Technical Partner of PensionChair, a leading industry network for pension scheme Trustee Chairs.

In taking the role, Rothesay Life will provide its expert insight to the PensionChair membership, which is comprised of over 120 flagship occupational pension schemes representing in excess of £113bn.

Each year PensionChair members benefit from access to a series of focused meetings, research projects and its development programme, in addition to sharing mutual know-how amongst peers.

Commenting on Rothesay Life’s membership, Head of Business Development Guy Freeman, said:

“Organisations like PensionChair play an important role in the sharing of information among trustees. PensionChair offers us the opportunity to build relationships with the other members and share valuable experiences with them.

“Rothesay Life prides itself on the relationships we foster with both our policyholders and the trustees responsible for their schemes. Our participation in PensionChair will help us do this with a broad range of schemes. For us, this will be as much about learning from the members as it will be sharing our knowledge.

“The de-risking market is looking like breaking more records this year and, naturally, many schemes are working towards buyout. For many schemes that will be a long way off, but being part of PensionChair will enable us to engage with schemes much earlier in the de-risking process than we have in the past.”

John Jeffcock, CEO of Winmark, which runs the PensionChair Network, said:

“More and more PensionChair members are beginning to think about the end game for their scheme and more importantly securing the benefits of their scheme members. The development of the buyout and buy-in market is becoming a more prominent consideration at PensionChair meetings as a result. It is therefore a great bonus for us to have the involvement of a partner with such a wide experience and knowledge of the market and who is also keen to support the knowledge sharing of network members.”

In welcoming Rothesay Life to the Network, PensionChair Panel Chair Alan Brown, said:

“To have a company of Rothesay Life’s quality joining is testament to PensionChair’s role within the industry. Our members are always looking to gain fresh perspectives from experts across the sector and Rothesay’s de-risking expertise will bring considerable value.”

Rothesay Life joins leading names like Baker Tilly, Investec, Punter Southall, Russell Investments and Sackers, as Technical Partners.
